photgraphic hi-jacking.

so this morning when i went to upload some photos for my post about revelstoke, it became very apparent to me that my SLR camera had been hi-jacked! i found about 100 random photos on the card from a couple weeks ago that i certainly didn't take, nor was even around for. i have decided to catelog my favourite photos in this post. enjoy!

GET REVELSTOKE-D!

we had a day off between calgary and victoria, and that meant only one thing, a day off in beautiful revelstoke, british columbia. we first found out about this gem of a day off spot on warped tour last year, and our stay was so relaxing and memorable, i can't see us not stopping here anytime we find ourselves between calgary and bc.

we got some rooms at the hilcrest hotel, which is a beautiful resort surrounded by forrests and mountains.

there's a nice little restuarant bar in the hotel that has a delicious veggie burger, and a few great local brews (for those who choose to partake). hanging out in the bar also offers a chance for slid band fellowiship and conversing with locals.

kyle cbk decided to join us for the day off, having bus refugees from camp comeback kid is always a pleasure!

kevin loves crown, this needs no explanation.

ALBERTA, WOO!

okay, so sorry to everyone (katiebrown) who has been bugging me to get caught up, here i am!

i pretty much love alberta.
we spent a day in edmonton, and two in calgary, and i did a lot, and had plenty of fun!

EDMONTON.
the show was at the shaw conference center right downtown, i woke up around noon and walked a couple of blocks down to the legendary hotel macdonald (aka "the mac"). my cousin preston works as a server at the hotel restaurant, and the plan was to meet my cousin ryan and uncle tom there for lunch while preston was working. it was great catching up with everyone over a nice lunch. they all used to live in burlington, and we kind of grew up together and then didn't really see eachother for a number of years when they first moved west, so i love getting out to edmonton to visit. unfortunately my aunt anna was out of town, which was a crying shame, as she's a real firecracker, and tons of fun to hang out with. preston and ryan are twins, and they have an older brother named justin who i haven't seen since he was going to george brown a number of years back.

preston.

ryan.

after lunch, ryan and i headed down to whyte ave to do some shopping. we stopped into this one store that had a sale on where all of their sale items we an aditional 30% off if you bought more than 4 items, so i bought some nudie jeans and a fred perry jacket and polo, and ryan got a shirt, and we maximized our savings!

when i finally made it back to the venue, josh and i headed out for a peddle. there was a paved bike trail that ran from behind the venue, along side the water, over a pedestrian bridge, up the side of the hill, and around some parks. we had a killer ride...litterally the climb almost killed me, but the downhills were sweeeeeeet!

the building with the sloped white rooftop is the venue.

the show in edmonton was probably my favourite show on the whole tour! other highlights of the night included hanging out with stu ross and andy hot fun, but i decided to hang back from going out to the bar afterward and watched the OC in my bunk instead.

CALGARY.
both days in calgary were absolutely beautiful! i got up super early both days and road my bike about 7k each way downtown and ate (both days) at this great little spot called the coup. the first day i had a grilled tofu panini, and the second day i had this tofu scramble sloppy joe with miso gravy, mmmmmmmm!

a major highlight of calgary was getting to hang out with erik hoibak. everyone who knows hoibak will tell you what a natural character he is, and every thing that comes out of his mouth is pretty memorable.

i believe he is doing some sort of impression of what it's like to be a front man in hardcore, water bottle mic and all.

after the second nights show, hoibak, casey and kevin cbk and i headed downtown to tubby dogs for ridiculous veggie hot dogs.

hoibaks dog featured your usual ketchup, mustard, relish, bbq sauce, pickles, tomatos, and sauted onions, the less common saurkrut, banana peppers and corn relish, and the perhaps never before eaten on the same dog stylings of peanut butter, jelly, sprinkles, and wasabi. gross.

my dog was nowhere near as stupid, and kevin and i shared a delicious order of sweet potato fry chips.

andy hot fun also made it up to the second day in calgary, and brad gilboe happened to be in town with saosin, and jason mante with poison the well. however, getting hot dogs seemed to have priority over hanging out with them, bummer. i also picked up a sick pair of two tone green vans era's, for only $30! they only had size 11, so i'm squeezing.

hoibak quote of the day:
kevin: "so do you and your girlfriend just talk about 90's hardcore all the time"
hoibak: "nah, when i got into 90's hardcore she was into the power rangers"

a new man.

today i'm in saskatoon, and after my morning bike ride to the health food store, i did this:

here is the current state of my moustache (well it's actually in a garbage can now).

i stopped half way, for good humour.

so, that's it. seeeeee-yuhhhh 'stache.
i think i might grow the beard back a bit, but keep it short.

the guess who suck, the jets were lousy anyway

catching up...

we had a day off last week between cincinnati and green bay, so we headed to chicago and spent the majority of the day in meetings at the victory office.

we spent 2 days in the greater minneapolis area, and had a day off parked right next to the mall of america. other highlights in MPLS included the vegan rustler (soy cheese, mock duck, pineapple, onion, banana peppers and bbq sauce) at pizza luce.

yesterday we arrived in winnipeg, and i started the day off meeting up with tracy from mixtape who took me to her friends salon to get a much needed haircut. (i think the moustache might go soon too)

i also spent the majority of the day with fat mat, got vegan chinese buffet at affinity (one of the 'pegs many similarities to the hammer) and bought the new fucked up 'year of the pig' 12" at a record store. also popped into a MEC to get a crank tool for when my black cranks arrive.

after the show we went to this local pub called shannon's, where this douchebag playing an acoustic guitar thought he was a stand up comedian. he never made it ten seconds into a song without stopping to say something dumb, and his songs were mostly about genitalia and sexually transmitted diseases.

fat mat and marisa.

the mixtape crew.

puc, goose and i.

in minneapolis we also did an in store, where i found all 4 boxset seasons of the OC for $20 each. the 35% disscount we were given got me these dvd's for like $13 each. since then i've spent most of my time in my bunk getting addicted to this show with party monkey. i think i watched something like 24 episodes in 3 days. party monkey thinks marissa has really cute teeth.

my ribs that show through tshirts and these shoes i got for free

yesterday in green bay wisconsin, we received an order of free shoes from tim at nike! i had originally ordered some radical black and red retro low cut jordans, but they sent me some generic dunks instead, and john kenna had ordered some purple air max 90's, which also didn't come. he really liked my dunks, so i traded him for the pair of air max 90's that they did send him, and i'm completely stoked.

these shoes are mental.

home.

it's very rare that i get to spend any time at home while in the middle of a tour, but this tour has given me that opportunity on more than one occasion. the one thing about playing locally, or having limited time at home while on tour is that it's usually super hectic, and next to impossible to fit in everything and everyone. i was definitely aided with the fact that my mom was able to pick me up at the venue in the morning and bring me home to get my car so i at least had a way around and wasn't stuck at the venue the whole time, thanks ma. another thing with all this hecticness was that i didn't really take as many photos as i should've. heather captured these two while we were driving around in china town:

heather and i had brunch at fressen where i ate the french toast and we both had muffins. afterwards we met with alex at their apartment and i helped set things up a bit before we headed up to the venue. the show was pretty fun, and it was super amazing to play for such a large local crowd. the cancer bats dudes were in town and out to the show, as was toronto photographer extrodinare jess baumung, who managed to capture this cute photo of liam and i becoming blackberry pin pals.

after the show i headed downtown with the girls, and crashed at their place. the morning quickly turned into the afternoon, and the rain ruined our plans to see everyone for brunch and soccer in the park, but we picked up s-a and courtney and headed down to lakeview to have brunch with the bats, goose, marika and co. jimmy also came and met up, which was nice.

i headed to burlington and got my bike, and came back to head to the regulators game. it was pouring, and i didn't last long at the game before accepting an invite to the bo for dinner. afterwards i headed to dee's to meet up with andrew, t-po and the rest of the team and eventually swung by to say hello to patrick at his place. andrew and i road over to trinity bellwoods after to practice skids, and i finally got it! yay for me for learning how to skid!

the one thing this trip home, conversations that i had while home, and those derived from subsequent actions have really hammered home the fact that i am never home, and have a real hard time offering any sort of stability or constant support to the people that i care about at home. i've had a lot of things weighing super heavy on me lately, and it all comes down to the fact that i'm not home, and can't really be there for my friends and the people i care about, and that really bums me out. i wish i could overcome this, and i whole heartedly apologize if this has put a strain on your life or our relationship, because it certainly has on my end. i guess this is my first bummed out blog entry.

the few days since this have been pretty uninspiring, and i haven't done much as far as taking photos or anything, so i may not have much to post up to now, but i really plan to get my self in check, get out on the bike and start snapping away again. real stoked for winnipeg, but i've got green bay and st. paul to explore en route.
